The closing ceremonies were held in the K. E. White Graduate Center. Dr. Lyrial M. Chism was the guest speaker. Dr. Chism spoke on the opportunities within the field of mathematics and the necessities to succeed. Dr. Linda Hayden, Director of the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing and Education at ECSU, welcomed the girls and their sponsors. Dr. Lora Barclift, Academic Affairs, introduced Dr. Chism. Dr. Harry Bass, Dean of the School of Mathematics, Science and Technology, closed the program with an admonishment to the girls to study hard in their math classes in preparation for their studies in college. |
