  S. Prasad Gogineni is the Deane E. Ackers Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. He is an IEEE Fellow and a member of the American Geophysical Union and the URSI Commission. While serving at NASA as the manager of the Polar Program (1997-98), he participated in several review panels, including those for the Earth System Science Pathfinder Step I and Step II, the Natural Hazards Research Announcement, and the Graduate Student Research Program. He was the co-chair of the Earth Science Information Partnerships (ESIP) II review panel and served as the NASA representative on the Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee and the Japan-US Implementation Committee of the International Arctic Research Center. He also co-chaired the NASA-ESA and NASA-NASDA Working Groups on Earth Science Cooperation.

He has performed proposal reviews for NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the Office of Naval Research. He has served as the associate editor (1992-94) and editor (1994-97) for the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society Newsletter. The professional journals for which he has reviewed articles include IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, Geophysical Research Letters, the International Journal of Remote Sensing, the Journal of Geophysical Research, and Remote Sensing of Environment.

Dr. Gogineni has received several awards, including a Fulbright Senior Fellowship (2002), the University of Kansas Louise Byrd Graduate Educator Award (2002), the NASA Group Achievement Award to the Antarctic Mapping Mission Team (2000), and the NASA Office of Earth Science Terra Award for exceptional scientific and technical service to the agency (1998). Along with his teaching and advising work at KU, he has served on several faculty committees, including the Faculty Awards Committee and the Graduate Studies Committee.
