Having access to accurate maps of forest types and conditions will allow climate modelers to more accurately predict the carbon sequestration capacity of forested landscapes as the climate change becomes more critical in the near future. With the use of Remote Sensing tools it is possible to map forest types and conditions to observe how the increase of carbon emissions or green house gases will affect our planet. Our Team has mapped the ECSU campus forest types using both Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM+) data (acquired 6/12/99) and aerial photographic data (acquired from ncOneMap ).
