Research will cover Remote Sensing using Acoustics and Sonar Primers. So far we have discussed the components of ocean acoustics and the role sonar plays in seafloor mapping. We've also discussed the effects of greenhouse gas emissions – particularly the rise in carbon dioxide levels. This then brought us to the topic of global warming. To gain some prospective on this topic we watched the movie “The Day After Tomorrow.” Other topics discussed included, dredging and disposal of marine sediments, laser line scanning, understanding sound, benthic mapping, and bathymetry. To show understanding of subject matter, each team member has written a research paper for every topic discussed. Currently we are discussing the use of scatterometers in measuring ocean winds.
