As an aspiring biologist, I am looking to pursue a career in Forensic Science. However, I have aquired an interest in marine science and biotechnology. In marine forensics, researchers provide analytical support on a routine basis to law enforcement agents at both the federal and state levels to protect many species of fish, reptiles, and marine mammals from specifically defined fates. The analyses must provide conclusive identification which are not always available. Today, marine forensic scientist use techniques quite smiliar to DNA "fingerprinting" in human forensics to answer questions from tissue pieces of marine animals. Accordingly, fishery management issues related to stock differentiation often requires information not obtainable by traditional genetic and tagging approaches. In molecular biology you are readily able to approach fishery management issues and provide excellent opportunities to resolve scientific, political, social, and economic issues.

In December 2005, I will have accomplished a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. Thereafter, I will attend graduate school to achieve a masters degree in Biotechnology.
