Wednesday's Research Week session started with a presentation by ECSU faculty who had recently attended a Partnership Strategy Meeting with the National Science Foundation. The presenters spoke of their past experiences with NSF and the future goals they acquired from meeting with NSF partners.

The second session of the day was a seminar from Dr. Hans Paerl of the UNC Coastal Studies Institute. Dr. Paerl's talk was titled “Water Quality Dynamics of the Pamlico Sound Estuarine System: Managing Nutrients During a Period of Elevated Storm Frequency." He spoke on the monitoring of the Neuse River and Pamlico Sound for phosphate, oxygen levels, and nitrogen levels and their effect on algae blooms in the area.

Participants were welcomed by Dr. Harry Bass, Dean, School of Mathematics, Science and Technology, and Dr. Jinchun Yuan, ECSU Associate Professor.
