This upcoming fall of 2007 I will be a junior majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Aviation Science. I currently hold a 3.3 GPA and I was awarded the opportunity to participate in the Undergraduate Research Experience internship at Elizabeth City State University where I also attend school and play for the ECSU Lady Vikings as a starting guard.
My love for computers began when I was just in elementary school. As a young student I was drawn to computers and I wanted to learn as much about them as possible. I realize that computers practically control the world. They are used to store the most basic information to the government’s top knowledge. Computers are a very popular instrument when communicating with others and developing new technologies.
In order to enhance my technological knowledge I chose to select a major dealing with computers. In that case I chose the Computer Science major and took up a minor in Aviation Science because I also have a passion for airplanes. Currently, I am debating if I want to go to graduate school and earn my Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or enter the Air Force after I finish school.
Over the past two summers I have participated in two internships. My first internship, which took place in the summer of 2005, was an internship that dealt with how chlorophyll-a levels and sea surface temperature affected the abundance or lack of bottlenose dolphins during the summer months of May, June, July, and August. My second internship, which took place at the University of Kansas, during the summer of 2006, was an internship where myself and my partner, Bryce Carmichael, developed robots using a robotic software package called Webots. The robots we developed were designed to plant and retrieve seismic sensors from glaciers. This upcoming summer I will be at the University of California Los Angeles working at the Center of Embedded Networks. I look forward to my internship this summer and I have gained great experiences from my past internships.
