Dr. Bonita Sanders |
On Tuesday ECSU welcomed Dr. Bonita Saunders, a research mathematician in the Mathematical and Computational Sciences Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg , Maryland . Dr. Saunders presented a lecture entitled: “ Dynamic 3D Visualizations of High Level Mathematical Functions ” in the Jenkins Science Center . Her areas of research include numerical grid generation, the numerical solution of partial differential equations and the visualization of special functions. She received her BA in Mathematics from the College of William and Mary, Her MS in Mathematics from the University of Virginia and her PhD in Mathematics from Old Dominion University . Currently, she is managing the design and development of graphics and visualization for the NIST Digital Library of Math Functions (DLMF) project. The DLMF is being developed at NIST as an interactive, online collection of special functions used in applied mathematics.
