The School of Mathematics, Science and Technology at Elizabeth City State University sponsored “Research Week 2005” on March 21 - 25, 2005. The theme for the week was “Building Bridges into Tomorrow through Research and Technology.” The School staff and students from five academic departments and two interdisciplinary initiatives presented displays, panel discussions, seminars, and poster presentations in celebration of research accomplishments of African Americans, HBCUs, and others in math, science and technology. The departments and initiatives represented were:

- Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research (CERSER)
- Computational Science – Scientific Visualization Center (CSSV)
