The closing ceremonies were held in the K. E. White Graduate Center and were dedicated to the K-12 teachers and their support of the STEM disciplines. Dr. Linda Hayden, Director of the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research at ECSU, welcomed the girls and their sponsors. On hand also was ECSU Chancellor, Dr. Willie Gilchrist who encouraged the girls to continue beyond just the required courses in their math studies.
Dr. Latesha Weeks, the Director of the UNC/ECSU Doctor of Pharmacy Partnership Program at Elizabeth City State University, was the guest speaker. Dr. Weeks spoke on the four components of a Mathematics in life: Language, Important, Foundation, Everywhere... LIFE. |
