Celebration
of Women in Mathematics :: Opening Ceremonies
The opening of
the Celebration of Women in Mathematics 2003 saw the gathering
of several schools in the Moore Hall Auditorium. Dr. Carolyn
Mahoney, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at ECSU, opened
the meeting followed by various speakers. Dr. Margery Coulson-Clark
of ECSU spoke on just what math meant to her and how it had
affected her life. Dr. Eleanor Green Dawley-Jones of Norfolk
State University, retired, also spoke on the benefits of becoming
strong in math. Mrs. Carmella Watkins of NOAA gave a welcome
and an introduction to her workshop. |
