(Formerly
The Rosenwald Youth Council, Inc.)
The Rosenwald
Center received its name from Mr. Jules Rosenwald, who in
the early 1900's gave monies to rural areas to start schools
for African Americans. The monies were used to build a facility
the original facility. That building was torn down in 1996
and the new one was erected. A committee was formed to oversee
the new construction. After completing the construction, the
committee has taken on other tasks to get the community people
involved. The organization that was once called the Rosenwald
Youth Council, Inc. changed its name to the Rosenwald Community
Development, Inc.
