GLOBE Workshop for Teachers

On July 17-18, 2020, GLOBE sponsored a Virtual Workshop for Teachers which included the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and pedosphere protocols.

Trainers included:

  • Tracy Ostrom - GLOBE Master Trainer in Atmosphere/Biosphere
  • Wanda Hathaway - GLOBE Master Trainer in Hydrosphere/Pedosphere

Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment program (GLOBE.gov) is an international program that provides students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to participate in data collection and the scientific process, and contribute meaningfully to our understanding of the Earth system and global environment.

The GLOBE Program offered Educators 2 two-hour trainings over 2 days in how to engage students grades 6-12 field research using GLOBE protocols. At the end of training, participants became:

  • Certified GLOBE-trained teachers
  • GLOBE community members
  • Able to conduct field research with students
  • Able to access a variety of grade-level GLOBE and NASA resources
  • And received continuing education units (1.5 CEUs) and professional development hours (15) from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
