My name is Anthony Maurice Anderson; I
am a sophomore at Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City,
NC. I am a computer science major with a minor in industrial technology.
When I receive my bachelor degree I will be attending graduate school the
following year while participating in research experiences.
I was introduced to computers at the
age of seven, and my fascination with this machine sparked a higher level
of curiosity. I was amazed by the capabilities infinite possibilities. My
experience was limited because I didn’t have a personal computer in my
household. I enjoyed the educational games and the competitions that were
conducted during class. At the age of nine I received my first computer
but unlike other children I focused more on the technical side because I
wanted a better understanding of components. During high school I enrolled
in every technological class to gain a firm foundation entering into
college.
At the end of the 20th century, people
become more reliant technology. The internet revolutionized shopping,
chatting, and information. Almost every normal activity can be completed
by clicking a mouse. I believe that the technological field will only
continue to grow, and it is my goal to grow with it. As a computer science
major I hope that the research that I do will have an impact on the years
to come.
I feel that it is important to be open
minded and be willing to experience new things. Computer technology has an
affect on everything including the environment. The Undergraduate Research
Experience program is devoted to building a bridge between technology,
research and environment. Participating in this program has broaden my
horizons and allowed me to contribute important marine concerns.
