2002 Earth Science Academy
On June 21, participants from Elizabeth City Middle School, Perquimans County, an ECSU Freshman Program, and the High School Globe Program were led through several activities to start the 2002 Earth Science Academy. The day started with a tour of maritime forests and coastal wetlands led by Dr. Maurice Powers. They were then taken to the Virginia Marine Science Museum where they explored the museums many exhibits. The next stop was a pontoon boat trip on the Owl Creek Marsh where they were introduced to the ecosystem and it's inhabitants. The visit to the museum was concluded with the IMAX 3D movie "Into the Deep", afirst hand look at the depths of the ocean.
