INFORMATION SHEET For a Research Study titled Virtual Conference (PDF Format)
You are invited to participate in a research study which aims to evaluate student’s interaction while in a virtual conference. This study is being conducted by Dr. Yolanda McMillan, under the direction of Dr. Linda Hayden, director of the Undergraduate Research Experience in Ocean, Marine, and Polar Science at Elizabeth City State University. The study will measure the impact of a virtual conference. You were selected as a possible participant because you are affiliated with Elizabeth City University.

Participation is voluntary. If you decide to participate, you will spend about 10 minutes completing the study. After reading this information sheet, you will be given a survey, which will provide us with background information about you and questions you will answer about the workshop. Any information obtained in connection with this study will remain anonymous. Information collected through your participation may be published in a professional journal and/or presented at a professional meeting.

While there are no guaranteed direct benefits to you from this research, you may find the research interesting. Your participation should make it possible to view how effective the virtual conferences are.

Your decision of whether or not to participate in this study will not jeopardize your future relations with Elizabeth City State University or the Undergraduate Research Experience in Ocean, Marine, and Polar Science. You are free to withdraw from this study at any time without any questions. You will also be able to withdraw the data collected from you. If you have any questions, ask them now.
