This year the American Geophysical Union’s Fall Meeting was held at the Moscone Convention Complex in San Francisco, California on December 3 – 7, 2012.  The 45th AGU Annual Meeting theme was “Promoting Discovery Through Collaboration and Communication”.  More than 42, 000 scientists and educators from around the globe gathered to advance Earth and space science.  This year’s meeting offered an exciting mix of scientific presentations, keynote lectures, town halls, social events, and networking opportunities. 

Drs. Linda B. Hayden and Darnell Johnson represented Elizabeth City State University with lectures on "Remote Sensing Training for Middle School through the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education" and "The Impact of Competition on Raising Mathematics Competency at Camelot Elementary School in Chesapeake, Virginia". Also in attendance were Dr. Steve Hale and Dr. Barrett Rock from the University of New Hampshire and Ryan Lawrence, a senior chemistry major from ECSU. Dr. Hale and Dr. Hayden presented a poster titled "Engaging Minority University STEM Education Professors in the Science of Climate Change" as a report on the NASA NICE project #NNX11AM97A. Also presented were The Effect of Math Sprint Competition in Student Achievement on SOL Mathematics Tests at Camelot Elementary School in Chesapeake, Virginia by Dr. Johnson and Remote Sensing Training for Middle School through the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research by Dr. Hayden.
