I was raised in Tennessee and left to serve in the Coast Guard at the age of 18. During my service I served in Cape May, NJ, Memphis, TN, Kodiak, AK, and Elizabeth City, NC. I was trained as an Aviation Electronics Technician and served as aircrew aboard the HC-130 Hercules as a radioman and navigator.
I have completed undergraduate degrees in Computer Information Science and Aviation Science graduating first in my class. I then completed the Applied Mathematics Master's program at ECSU with a concentration in Remote Sensing in 2010. I am currently completing coursework toward a North Carolina Elementary and Middle Grades teacher's certificates.
Upon retirement I took a job with the Office of Naval Research program at Elizabeth City State University under Dr. Linda Hayden. I have been employed here for thirteen years as an Education Program Manager developing print and digital graphical materials as well as mentoring undergraduate research teams.
My passion is my family followed by utilizing my skills to help others succeed. Being self taught in many disciplines, I hope to encourage others to step up and gain their knowledge through hard work and gaining the passion for what they do in life.
