My name is Jessica Hathaway; I am originally from Gates County, North Carolina. I am a freshman at Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City; North Carolina. I am majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics.

Though my time in school I always had an interest in math. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I knew I wanted to get more involved in mathematics and teaching. At ECSU I am involved in the Research Experience for Undergraduates Academic Year. While in the program I am going to try my best to complete all the task and internships I can to help me achieve my career goal.

My goal is to become an elementary mathematics teacher. With this I am going to strive to do well in everything I participate in. I am going to work hard in all my classes, and aim for the highest grades possible in all my present and future studies. My goal is to graduate in the summer of 2016 and receive my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. Once I obtain my degree I am going to still further my education to pursue my graduates and my doctors.
