Professional Statement

My name is Stacey Newsome and I am a freshman at Elizabeth State University, located in North Carolina. My major is Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. I am originally from Woodland, NC. My interest to become a computer science major began when I was in the 9th grade. I realized how much I loved to work with computers, so I decided to pursue a degree in computer science. My goals are to maintain a high grade point average, obtain internships and experience so that I will be more than prepared for the work world after I graduate. I was given the opportunity to be a member in the Center of Excellence for Remote Sensing Education and Research (CERSER) here at the university. This program gives students like me, the opportunity to enhance our knowledge about computers, to gain hands on training, and the importance of networking. I am only a freshman, but by my senior year I will have all the skills and training I need for pursuing my career and graduate education.
