Professional Statement

Hello, my name is Derrick Pitts. I am a freshman here at Elizabeth City State University and my major is Computer Science. For the next four years I will participate in a series of events leading into graduate school. Those events include lectures, conventions, meetings, training programs and travels to explore the world and share my experiences and research. I am apart of the CERSER ( Center of Excellence for Remote Sensing Education and Research) program and I enjoy it for the opportunities and the people involved. Dr. Linda B. Hayden is the Principal Investigator and there are many people who play part to the success of the program.

I plan to make my stay at Elizabeth City State University one for achievements, preparation for advancement in life, and to network with different people. I have already mapped out my life five years from this point and I have a back-up plan for every initial plan. My knowledge of computers grows like the population of the earth. I have training in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Dream weaver, Fireworks and html coding. As the years pass, my knowledge and experience will continue to grow. I plan to keep well documented research and I also plan to partake in history as we approach the 21 st century.
