My name is Anthony Anderson; I am a sophomore at Elizabeth City State University. I am a computer science major with a minor in Computer and Electronics. I have lived in Elizabeth City for fifteen years and I attended Northeastern High school, and Pasquotank County High School. Upon graduation, I will be attending graduate school at North Carolina State University to obtain my master degree in Computer Science. During the summer I will be applying for internships to obtain experience in my field of study.
While attending Elizabeth City State University I have had the opportunity to expand my horizons. During the fall of 2003, I had the privileged to work in Dr. Linda Hayden’s Office of Naval Research (ONR) program. I was have been introduced to remote sensing and how it is being utilized in everyday life.
During the summer of 2003, I participated in the Undergraduate Research Experience (ONR) here at Elizabeth City State University. My research was based on “The correlation between Right Whale Distributions and Sea Surface Temperature.” My partner and I had the opportunity to present our project to members of NOAA. As a result I learned a lot about right whales and sea surface temperature along with the tools needed to carry out the project.
Immediately after graduations I will be attending graduate school at North Carolina State University to major in Computer science. In order to obtain on site training, I will be applying for internships that will help build a competitive resume. I will also be furthering my education in remote sensing to remove education boundaries that I will be faced with in the job market.
