Willie Gilchrist II is a junior computer science major at the
illustrious Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, North Carolina,
and has been a student at the University since the fall 2000 semester. Born in
Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Gilchrist is an alumnus of Southeast Halifax
High School, having graduated with honors. His father, Willie Gilchrist is the
superintendent of Halifax County Schools and his mother, Jacqueline Gilchrist is
a second grade teacher at Scotland Neck Primary. Both are proud graduates of
Elizabeth City State University.
Currently, Gilchrist is involved with many organizations and
activities. These include being a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a
student researcher for the Office of Naval Research/NASA Scholarship Program.
Gilchrist is a proud member of the ECSU National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE),
a member of the Computer Science Club, a member of NAACP, student member of the
ECSU Information Technology Planning and Policy Council, member of the National
Red Cross, a North Carolina Scholar, and is Minister of Music at Roanoke Chapel
Baptist Church.
After graduating from Elizabeth City State University, Willie desires to earn a masters degree in Artificial Intelligence and a Ph.D. in computer science. His career goals include becoming system administrator for the Secret Services, or a programmer for the Federal Aviation Administration.
