I’m Demetrus Rorie a goal-oriented freshman of Elizabeth City State University. I’m a very outgoing, driven, zealous student always searching for a new challenge. After finishing my high school career in a small rural area I was destined to further my education at a four-year university. Attending Elizabeth City State University was the next step in my devised plan of reaching my level of success. The supportive atmosphere and outstanding academic achievements of Elizabeth City State University’s students attracted me to the school and made me determined to be the next success story.

After arriving at Elizabeth City State University I realized that the next four years of my life were dependent upon my major. Although I had given careful thought to this question I was determined to make sure that I was making the right decision. After meeting my many instructors I was sure that Computer Science was the appropriate major. I had always been intrigued by computers and had even shadowed at IBM prior to entering Elizabeth City State University. I was fascinated by the many tools that computers possessed and excited to begin implementing these tools.

It is essential to acquire as much knowledge as possible when entering the competitive work force. When my undergraduate studies at Elizabeth City State University are done I plan to continue furthering my education by entering graduate school. In most Computer Science fields other degrees are needed in addition to undergraduate degrees if you wish to excel in your occupation. While matriculating through graduate school I plan to be obtaining the job experience needed to be successful in my career field. I would preferably like to be in an entry-level position at a major company or if possible I aspire to have reached higher than just an entry-level position. After receiving my degree from graduate school I plan to be moving up the corporate ladder at a company such as IBM. I hope to acquire the skills needed to one day manage a major company.

Only you yourself can define success. Each individual describes success differently. After excelling in my career and becoming spiritually, mentally, emotionally and financially successful I will be content with life and will have reached the level of success that I have been destined to reach. As a quotation that I once read stated “If it is to be it’s up to me” I am the maker of my own destiny. Each goal that I have aspired to reach whether personal or professional can only be obtained if I diligently work to acquire it.
