My name is Anthony
Anderson, a second semester freshman at Elizabeth City State University. I
was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. At a young age, my father moved
the family to Alexandria, D.C. under military orders. I attended high school
at Northeastern as a freshman and sophomore, and completed my high school
curriculum at Pasquotank County High School where I graduated in the top
twenty percent of my class. During high school, I focused on all computer
courses because I felt that pursuing a career in the field of computer
science would best suit my interests. Aside from computers, the majority of
my extracurricular activities included attending band functions and events.
I had the privilege to be a member of two jazz bands, along with marching,
symphonic and concert band.
I chose computer science as
a major because I feel that we live in a technological era. Just about
everything in the twenty-first century is associated with computers, which
yields many opportunities to obtain a well paying job and to enjoy what I
do. I have had several years of experience in troubleshooting software and
hardware analysis of personal computers. I would like to participate in the
ONR program to broaden my horizons and remove boundaries that could prevent
me from acquiring the knowledge and tools to become a successful
undergraduate student as well as attain enriching opportunities that would
benefit me now, through graduate school, and in the future.
I look forward to working
with and contributing to the ONR program which sets standards for computer
technology, math, and science. Upon completion of college, I will
immediately pursue enrollment in graduate school at North Carolina State
University.
