The 2008 Ocean Observing Educator Institute workshop was held at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, New Hampshire, June 7-11. The theme of the workshop was “Understanding Seasonal Change in the Ocean using Ocean Observing Data.” The workshop presented teachers with marine science content and educational tools that are used during ocean observation data as it may relate to their curriculum.  Teachers were required to create lesson plans that related to the use of materials and data acquired during the workshop.   Teachers had the opportunity to board a research vessel for an afternoon during which time they visited a buoy and conducted different experiments.  An evening activity included a visit to the Seacoast Science Center where teachers participated in an Art in Science activity. Elizabeth City State University sponsored Sharron Bell to attend this workshop.
