The Burroughs Wellcome Earth Science Project conducted its initial academic year program in room 229 Dixon Hall in the CERSER Lab on September 29, 2007. During this event the project's second year students reviewed their group work which was completed during the summer 2007 workshop. Group members surveyed the posters they developed from their power points presentations that were conducted on the last day of the summer workshop. Project staff members Drs. William Porter, Thomas Rossbach, H. Leon Pringle, and Mrs. Elizabeth Noble participated in the session.
Students reviewed printouts of the posters that they initially developed during the summer workshop. Subsequently, they made modifications on the document with the computer lab. Also during the session interviews were conducted with each of the student project participants with respect to their interest in earth science as a result of their workshop participation and the extent to which they communicated with other individuals within their school, home, and community about project activities and the benefit of these activities in their school work during the semester.
Students will present their group posters at the Distinguished Lecture Series to be held in the CERSER on Tuesday, November 8, 2007. Their poster presentations are to be evaluated by faculty and selected other professionals who will be in attendance at this meeting as well as students from other universities and individuals from the local Elizabeth City community. |
