Project Overview
CReSIS in the Classroom: RET Development of High School Science Curriculum
Melissa Forester and Kelsey Leinmiller-Renick, Cheri Hamilton, and Brandon Gillette, Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets, the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS 66045
The CReSIS RET Program for the summer of 2011 was a pilot program. The experience centered on the development of high school science curriculum based on CReSIS technology and data. The presentation and poster include summaries of curricular goals, lessons created, and outreach experience over the summer. The lessons are based on the 5E lesson plan model and correlate to the National Science Education Standards (NSES). These real world applications of current polar science engage students using CReSIS technologies and data including remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). |
