The Undergraduate Research Experience in Ocean, Marine, and Polar Sciences has an objective of promoting professional growth within minority students through selected research opportunities. As a group of undergraduate students the Polar Grid Gateway Team was assigned with the project of researching the infrastructure of Grid computing and implementing a working portlet within a portal. With successful completion of the task the group will have set the foundation for the compiling of a working Grid which purposes will be to collect, store, and process data from field researchers working in the Greenland and Antarctic polar regions.
