Dr. Reide Corbett CSI ECSU CERSER NIA

On June 27, 2013, Dr. Malcolm LeCompte, researcher with the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research (CERSER) and research student Michael Jefferson attended a presentation by Dr. Reide Corbett of the Department of Geological Sciences, Institute of Coastal Science and Policy at East Carolina University. the presentation took place at the UNC-Coastal Studies Institute (CSI) in Wanchese, North Carolina.

Dr. Corbett's presentation was on the effects and causes of coastal geographic changes. These changes take place from both natural and anthropogenic (man made) forces and include both the coastal and estuarine geology.

From Dr. Corbett's biography:

"He is a coastal oceanographer/geochemist with an overall scientific interest in the cycling of biologically active constituents (e.g., carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus) in coastal and open ocean environments. He is especially interested in evaluating and quantifying pathways of nutrient delivery to the coastal ocean that have been either under estimated or potentially ignored altogether, such as groundwater discharge and advective transport associated with sediment disturbances."
