The 2015 Commencement Ceremony of the RiverCity YouthBuild/Americorps participants was held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Mt. Lebanon A.M.E. Zion Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Several students received their General Educational Development (GED) diplomas while others received certifications in carpentry & landscaping and Certified Nursing Assistant degrees.

Mr. Joal Hathaway represented the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research (CERSER) program at Elizabeth City State University at the ceremony. He made a special presentation to two of the students who had taken part in the program's Black-History Month activities. Lisa Jones and Sabrina Young not only participated in the Virginia Air & Space Center (VASC) Black History Month event along with others from YouthBuild, but also wrote a two page report (single space, Times New Roman, 12 point font with 1" margins) highlighighting the VASC Red Tails IMAX movie with quotes from the Tuskegee Airmen and highlights from the VASC guided tour.
