The National Math Fest was held April 18th in the Smithsonian Museums in Washington. The event was aimed at a younger audience to get them interested in the subject of math. There were art pieces made using mathematical formulas, 'math magicians' and math related activities that required participants to think mathematically in order to finish the activity. The event also had guest speakers, ranging from math professors to programmers, to explain how math is used practically in real life situations.
The 2015 National Math Festival was organized by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) and the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) in cooperation with the Smithsonian Institution. Maeah Walthall, Engineering major at George Mason University and 2015 CReSIS AaA intern attended the event.
