The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Talent Expansion Program held its annual Grantees Meeting in Washington, D.C. on April 20-21, 2006. The program included speakers from the National Science Foundation, poster sessions, and breakout sessions focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education topics.

The meeting was opened by Susan Hixson, STEP Lead Program Director. Opening remarks were also given by Linda Slakey, Director, Division of Undergraduate Education, and Cora B. Marrett, Acting Deputy Director, National Science Foundation.

Speakers for the event were Dr. Vincent Tinto, Distinguished University Professor, School of Education, Syracuse University, "Constructing Environments for Student Success" and Dr. Dawn Johnson, Assistant Professor, Higher Education, Syracuse University, "Using Student Development Perspectives to Support Under-represented Students in STEM."
