We would like to acknowledge student and faculty researchers from the University of New Hampshire.

The Virginia- North Carolina Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (VA-NC LSAMP) at ECSU would like to extend its highest gratitude to all students and faculty mentors who participated in last Friday’s Scientific Poster presentations that culminated another great Annual SMST Research Week at ECSU.

Special congratulations are in order for Mr. George Riddick, a Senior Industrial Technology major who presented a poster entitled Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Civilian Applications who accumulated the highest point total (24/25) from our judges. We also congratulate our second place winner Mr. Tyler Thompson (Antioxidant Enzymes in Paraquat Resistant Drosophila melanogaster), our third place winner Ms. Davia Nickelson (Isolation & Identification of Hydrocarbon-degrading Bacteria associated to Kenaf Core), and our fourth place winner Mr. George Harris (A Hybrid Solution for Renewable Energy). Each student who participated in the poster presentation session will receive a $100.00 stipend from The VA-NC LSAMP. Winner stipend amounts are as follows:
1st Place- $300.00
2nd Place- $250.00
3rd Place- $200.00
4th Place- $150.00

The following students were chosen to represent Elizabeth City State University during the Annual Research Symposium that will be held at Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA) April, 2009.These student researchers, who were chosen for their research excellence, will display posters and give oral presentations in an Alliance Partner School environment.
Tyler Thompson- Biology
Davia Nickelson- Biology Pre- Medical
George Harris- Engineering Technology
Shavonda Evans- Biology Pre- Medical
