The BEEP, sponsored by the National Urban League, is a program to help African American college students excel. BEEP sponsors business men and women from corporations and government agencies to lecture at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The lectures are centered on such issues as leadership, communication, and management. The BEEP-ECSU campus visit was coordinated by Mrs. Roberta Shaw, Internship Coordinator at ECSU.
The Environmental Entrepreneurship Program (EEP) provides funding to attract under represented students to pursue higher academic study and entrepreneurship prospects in the NOAA-related sciences. The program aids joint ventures between Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), NOAA, and the Department of Commerce. Associations are formed with academic, research, government, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) aimed at preparing students with the necessary knowledge, skills, tools, and technology to promote environmentally sustainable and economically feasible local communities. |
