His lecture was basically centered on the keys to success as an undergraduate, which he began by emphasizing determination as the main key. During his freshman year at Elizabeth City State University, he was more involved in campus social activities than the academic aspect, and stayed away from the computer science department which was his major, but he realized it wasn't going to work, he changed.

When it comes to preparing for graduate school, he advised people to aim for schools that offer fellowships. To make sure that we have all the criteria necessary for a degree program, and of course to maintain a high GPA.

To make use of research opportunities if that is what one is to further in graduate school, urging students doing research at the moment to take full advantage of the research facilities, and do as much hand on as possible. And one important thing he emphasized was to enjoy the period of research in order to avoid regretting in the future.

Doing as much intership as possible especially during summer to help in staying intact as it helps with skills and experiences, which can be very useful for gradaute research students.

In extending undergraduate studies one must have proper attitude in order to succeed, avoid negative attitudes and be willing to help others anytime as one never knows when he or she might need other people's help.
