I was born and reared in Plymouth, North Carolina. After graduating from Plymouth High School, I went on to pursue my undergraduate studies at Elizabeth City State University. I learned a lot about myself and life in general throughout my undergraduate career. I engaged in many learning opportunities at Elizabeth City State such as, research projects and conferences. I majored in Computer Science and minored in Physics, so all of the research I engaged in related to mathematics and science in some manner.

After completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Elizabeth City State University in May of 2003, I went on to pursue graduate studies at North Carolina State University. I began my graduate studies in the Computer Science department, but realized that I wanted to engage in other subject areas like Education. Therefore, I completed my Master of Education degree in Technology Education and minored in Communication. Completed my M.Ed took 2 worthwhile years. I graduated in August of 2005.

In August of 2005, I returned to my alma mater, Elizabeth City State University, and became an adjunct College Algebra professor. Besides earning two degrees, this opportunity was most assuredly a milestone in my life. This position has allowed me to revisit my original Mathematics and Computer Science interests as well as integrate diverse instructional techniques into the classroom which I learned at North Carolina State University. This position is preparing me for a long-term teaching career and I am most appreciative for the opportunity.
