Personal Statement

The professional world is one that requires preparation and determination. Throughout my life, I have been privileged enough have guidance that keeps me on the path toward success.

In Grammar School I was a member of the program designated as Academically Gifted (AG). This program concentrated on giving advanced experiences to those students who were deemed to be the “fast” movers of the class. Participants were exposed to both traveling and educational opportunities.

My academic career was on a move throughout middle school. Presentations were made to the governor concerning the chaos theory and participation in a nationwide geography project was completed.

In high school I attended enrichment programs aimed at career and college preparation. The Math and Science Regional Center program in Knoxville, Tennessee was an enrichment program that focused on college preparation. It was a 10-week program which consisted of classes and activities which exposed participants to walks of life never before explored. The Educational Talent Search program was a program geared at keeping students actively involved in the academic field. Trips were sponsored every Friday to colleges and universities. SAT fees were paid and tutoring was provided by local college staff.

I am currently attending Elizabeth City State University and in the process of acquiring my Bachelors of Science in Physics with a Minor in Mathematics. I am a member of the Office of Naval Research program, Incentvie Scholarship program, Center for Materials Research program, and also a member of the Society of Physics Students.

Since grammar school I have exemplified that determination that will eventually bring about success. The previously mentioned programs which I have participated in only aid in helping to achieve my goals. I intend to apply that same determination to all aspects of my life, especially my academic components.
