I found the ADMI Conference to be most informative. Since this was my first conference I did not know exactly what to expect, but I found this experience to be very enlightening. The overall atmosphere of this event was astounding. It was great just to have the chance to be around some of the most intelligent people from different areas of the U.S.
The first seminar on Friday that we attended was titled "Graduate Studies in Computing". The main speaker of this seminar was Mr. Forbes Lewis. Mr. Lewis was accompanied by three graduates of the doctorate program, which were very inspiring. Mr. Lewis had a presentation for the students to view concerning the process of getting into graduate school and steps that should be taken after one is accepted.

Some of the particulars of his presentation were the options of graduate school: to follow the thesis path or to follow the project path. The thesis path was mainly for people who would later pursue doctorate school; those who chose the project path usually didn't go on to pursue their Ph.D.

Mr. Lewis' three guests gave the students very realistic advice concerning what graduate school is really like. One of the guest speakers told us what it was like for him to achieve his graduate degree. He explained how his full-time job effected his education. He explained how his employer was not in favor of him going back to school so he continuously gave him more work in efforts of holding him back. Mr. Lewis' guest also explained how it is best to go right to graduate school after college, because many find it hard to go to graduate school after having a job. After Mr. Lewis finished his presentation we were visited by his three students.
