Award StudentsOne undergraduate student and one graduate student received financial support in the amount of $1000.00 each through the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentor award.

Jasheen Mizzelle is a rising senior with a major in social work. Her GPA is 3.6. She was on the Chancellors List for GPA in 2002 and the Vice Chancellors list in 2003. She received the Essence Magazine Award in Jan. 2005. She completed one research project under the direction of Dr. Bradshaw (ECSU faculty member) during the summer of 2004. That project won third place in the Ronald McNair Poster Competition.

Torreon Creekmore was the graduate student who received one thousand dollars. He is an ECSU graduate who is now working on his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science at Howard University. Torreon has a GPA of 3.2 and is expected to complete degree requirements in 2007.

Both students who received funding through this project have also been involved in academic year research training activities. Mizzelle's project involved K-5 student preception of incident type and response to bullying. Creekmore's project involved Tunneling of Matter Wave through a Delta Function Type Barrier.
