One undergraduate student
and one graduate student
received financial support
in the amount of $1000.00
each through the Presidential
Award for Excellence in
Science, Mathematics, and
Engineering Mentor award.
Jasheen
Mizzelle is a rising
senior with a major in
social work. Her GPA is
3.6. She was on the Chancellors
List for GPA in 2002 and
the Vice Chancellors list
in 2003. She received the
Essence Magazine Award
in Jan. 2005. She completed
one research project under
the direction of Dr. Bradshaw
(ECSU faculty member) during
the summer of 2004. That
project won third place
in the Ronald McNair Poster
Competition.
Torreon
Creekmore was the graduate
student who received
one thousand dollars. He
is an ECSU graduate who
is now working on his Ph.D.
in Atmospheric Science
at Howard University. Torreon
has a GPA of 3.2 and is
expected to complete degree
requirements in 2007.
Both
students who received
funding through this project
have also been involved
in academic year research
training activities. Mizzelle's
project involved
K-5 student preception
of incident type and response
to bullying. Creekmore's
project involved Tunneling
of Matter Wave through
a Delta Function Type Barrier. |
