Assignment 1 -- Data Sheet This assignment is designed to get the user comfortable with several things that will be used for executing future assignments (i.e. where certain buttons are, performing basic functions to format a document, how the users respond to instructions given to them and what level of knowledge with respect to computers is the majority of the class.) The data sheet must include: Name Grade Expectation of Class Address Memberships Phone Number Hobbies Parent/Caregiver Accomplishments School Goals Assignment 2 -- Letter Writing This assignment is designed for the student to become more comfortable with ClarisWorks Word application. In this assignment, they will learn how to properly format a professional letter. Assignment 3 -- Essay Writing This assignment is designed to introduce or reintroduce how to format a coherent essay. The student will be given an interesting topic to write on, and they will be charged with coming up with at least three paragraphs (introduction, body, and closing) to express their feelings on the given topic. Assignment 4 -- Type Twister/Clip Art In this assignment, the student will be introduced to the TypeTwister program. This program adds design to words. Also, they will learn how to create something in one application and move it to another. The assignment is to type their name and then apply design. Assignment 5 -- Logo 1 This assignment is designed to get the student acquainted to ClarisWorks Drawing and to show that they know the functions of the toolbar in ClarisWorks Drawing. With Logo1, the student will place their name behind an object and then bring it in front of the object using toolbar commands. Assignment 6 -- Logo 2 This assignment is designed to get the student acquainted to ClarisWorks Drawing and to show that they know the functions of the toolbar in ClarisWorks Drawing. With Logo2, the user will place geometric figures of screen with their first inital and apply design to inside the shapes. Assignment 8 -- Spreadsheet This assignment is to introduce the student to the Microsoft Excel program or the ClarisWorks Spreadsheet program to teach the students how to create a spreadsheet. With this assignment, the student will bring in a table from the sports section of the newspaper and make it a spreadsheet. Assignment 9 -- Birthday Invitation This assignment is designed for the user to properly execute the knowledge and skills used up to this point. Students will learn new commands on the toolbar to carry out application. Assignment 10 - Business Flyer This assignment will require the user to use all skills learned up to this point to create an attractive make-believe business flyer. Students will also be introduced to clip art to improve flyer. Students will be encouraged to work independently on assignment to show their knowledge of the skills reviewed. Assignment 11 -- Banner This assignment is designed to show users how to make and personalize a banner. Learning how to lengthen and shorten banners will be introduced. Assignment 12 -- PowerPoint Presentation This assignment is designed to introduce the students to a program that is becoming popular to use in public schools to do presentations. The student will be asked to make a slide show presentation on everything that they learned during the program. Each slide will represent an assignment that he or she has done. | ||
