Off To A Flying Start (http://k12unix.larc.nasa.gov/flyingstart) is an online telecommuncations project which incorporates aeronautics, math, science, technology, and FUN! Students learn about the principals of flight build and fly their own Falcon Flyer, and create and test their own airplane design. Fifty students of T.S. Cooper Elementary School participated in the Off To A Flying Start Summer Camp July 3-7 and 10-14, 2000. The camp was sponsored by the Network Resources and Training Site and T.S. Cooper Elementary School parents and staff. The students also visited the Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. Mrs. Urania Harrell serves as the project director. Ms. Edith Taylor, Ms. Gracie Taylor, Mr. Marvin Harrell and Mrs. Linda Collins-Brickouse assisted with the camp. Mr. Murphy is shown demonstrating basic techniques of aeronautics and flight principles. | ||
