Earth System Science Education Conference in Austin

Conference Objectives

Sponsored by NASA's Earth Science Enterprise (ESE) and organized by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), the 1999 NASA Earth Science Education Forum is designed to bring together representatives from all NASA ESE education projects. The conference is intended to meet the following objectives:

  • Communicate NASA's Earth science education strategy and vision for the future.
  • Share knowledge and experience gained as a result of NASA ESE education activities.
  • Encourage leveraging and cooperation among principal investigators.
  • Share resources and unique approaches to enhance current programs.
As a result of the conference, NASA plans to:
  • Identify possible gaps in NASA overall Earth science education program.
  • Identify the extent of equity, diversity and access in all activities.
  • Define overall program improvements as a result of participants' input.

Participants

Participants have been invited from all NASA ESE-sponsored education projects, Earth Science Education and Science Contacts at NASA Headquarters and Centers; NASA Pre-college Education Officers at all NASA Centers; University Affairs Officers at all NASA Centers; NASA Educator Resource Center Directors; and NASA Space Grant Consortium Directors.
