The Digital Library for
Earth System Education (DLESE)
Annual Meeting brings together
teachers, undergraduate educators,
scientists, library developers,
and others interested in
teaching and learning about
the Earth with DLESE resources
and services. This years
meeting was held in St. Petersburg,
Florida and hosted by the
University of South Florida
College of Marine Science.
This years meeting
consisted of workshops, field trips, birds-of-a-feather
sessions, design review sessions,
focus groups, reports to
the community, lab time to
engage in resource review,
and plenary sessions with
keynote speakers. attendees
were treated to a wide variety
of Earth Science topics including
a look at the effects of
a hurricane on a coastline
as Hurricane Dennis passed
by during the conference.
Attending from Elizabeth
City State University this
year were Dr. Darnell Johnson,
Chair of the Mathematics
and Computer Science Department,
Dr. Stephanie Johnson, and
Mr. Jeff Wood. Workshops
ranged from building your
own underwater robot to studying
the newest evaluation tools
for earth science materials
in the classroom. Participants
were kept busy and in the
after hours provided with
plenty of entertainment and
beautiful sunsets. |
