On May 19-20, 2005, the
NASA Science Mission Directorate
held its second Earth Science
Education Community Meeting
in Orlando, Florida.The purpose
of this meeting was
to
present a draft of the NASA
Earth science education roadmap
for community review and
commments.
The
roadmap will be a 10-year
plan that guides the NASA
Earth science education
program and ensures that
future generations of Earth
explorers have the knowledge
and ability required
to understand and protect
Earth and contribute
to NASA’s Vision
for Space Exploration.
Elizabeth City State University
(ECSU) was represented by
Dr. Darnell Johnson, Chair
of the Mathematics and Computer
Science Department and Dr.
Barbara Johnson, a professor
in the Education Department.
The
meeting was centered on
working groups looking at
specific focus areas in the
roadmap, including elementary
and secondary education,
higher education, informal
science education, and underrepresented/underserved
audiences. |
