During the late spring of 2005, Dr. Linda Hayden, Principal Investigator for the NRTS program and Dr. Darnell Johnson, Chair of the Math and Computer Science Department, traveled to area schools sponsoring Math Sprint Competitions for elementary students. The students completed problems under a time constraint, were given points for correct answers, and were penalized for wrong answers. The winners received trophies for their efforts and certificates were presented to others in the competitions.
