On May 26, twenty-seven
5th grade AIG students from Weeksville and Pasquotank Elementary
Schools attended a training session at the Center of Excellence
in Remote Sensing Education and Research (CERSER)
entitled " A morning at ECSU's CERSER". Instructors
Liz Noble of the ECSU Geological, Environmental & Marine
Science (GEMS)
Department and Sharon Brown, CERSER
Lab / Program Manager, took students through activities involving
Remote Sensing and Wetlands, Satelitte Imagery Web Activities,
a tour of CERSER
and the purpose of CERSER.
The
students were brought by their teacher, Rose
Hotchkiss, Gifted Education Facilitator/Teacher, who wants
her students to learn about historical wetlands in the area
and study submerged aquatic degredation. The students are
currently studying aerial photography.
