You Be The
Scientist with Satellite Imagery Summer Program (Dr. L. Hayden,
PI) was held July 16-August 3, 2001 at W. E. Waters Middle School
(Dr. M. Shepard, Principal). The participants, who are all middle
school students, are shown during their visit to the Virginia Air
& Space Museum and NASA's Aerozone. L. Mundon,' S. Pollard,
T. Dozier, and A. Seshun served as trainers. NASA's Earth Science
Education Office of Goddard Space Flight Center was the sponsor. |

Middle school
principals in Portsmouth Public Schools nominated five students
to participate in a the three week science enrichment program in
satellite imagery. The program was sponsored by the National Aeronautics
and Space Administration and Elizabeth City State University. Students
were to have a B grade point average and an expressed interest in
math or science. Students were to have also completed grade 6 by
the end of the school year 200-2001. |
