You Be The Scientist, Satellite Imagery Program

You Be The Scientist with Satellite Imagery Summer Program (Dr. L. Hayden, PI) was held July 16-August 3, 2001 at W. E. Waters Middle School (Dr. M. Shepard, Principal). The participants, who are all middle school students, are shown during their visit to the Virginia Air & Space Museum and NASA's Aerozone. L. Mundon,' S. Pollard, T. Dozier, and A. Seshun served as trainers. NASA's Earth Science Education Office of Goddard Space Flight Center was the sponsor.



Middle school principals in Portsmouth Public Schools nominated five students to participate in a the three week science enrichment program in satellite imagery. The program was sponsored by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Elizabeth City State University. Students were to have a B grade point average and an expressed interest in math or science. Students were to have also completed grade 6 by the end of the school year 200-2001.
