On February 3, 2005, the NOAA Environmental Entrepreneurship Program (EEP) and the Walter R. Davis School of Business and Economics co-sponsored a lecture by Mrs. Roberta Shaw, Internship Coordinator at ECSU. Mrs. Shaw spoke on entrepreneurships and the resources available to students who are interested in starting their own business ventures. She also presented a history of African Americans who have succeeded in pursuing their business dreams such as Madame C. J. Walker who became the first African American millionaire and the first female millionaire. Also speaking were Dr. Darnell Johnson, Chair of the Math & Computer Science Department, and Dr. Malcolm LeCompte of the Center for Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research (CERSER). Dr. LeCompte and several research students provided insights into the tools needed to succeed. |
