The circle with the equal sign represents the National Urban League movement’s commitment to equality for all people. The equal sign within the circle serves as a graphic reminder of the League’s commitment to equality.

On November 4th, 2004, the Environmental Entrepreneurship Program (EEP) and the Walter R. Davis School of Business and Economics co-sponsored a reception and poster session for business and research students. This event was part of the Black Executive Exchange Programs (BEEP) two day visit to Elizabeth City State University as a Career Awareness and Planning Seminar (CAPS). The guests were also part of a poster presentation by research students working with the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Remote Sensing (CERSER)

The BEEP, sponsored by the National Urban League, is a program to help African American college students excel. BEEP sponsors business men and women from corporations and government agencies to lecture at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The lectures are centered on such issues as leadership, communication, and management. The BEEP-ECSU campus visit was coordinated by Mrs. Roberta Shaw, Internship Coordinator at ECSU.

The Environmental Entrepreneurship Program (EEP) provides funding to attract under represented students to pursue higher academic study and entrepreneurship prospects in the NOAA-related sciences. The program aids joint ventures between Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), NOAA, and the Department of Commerce. Associations are formed with academic, research, government, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) aimed at preparing students with the necessary knowledge, skills, tools, and technology to promote environmentally sustainable and economically feasible local communities.
